Teachers of the Deaf

Teachers of the Deaf (ToDs) are qualified teachers who have taken further training and qualified to teach children with a hearing loss. They provide support to deaf children, their parents and family, and to other professionals who are involved with a child's education. ToDs play important role in making sure deaf children are taught to sign (if they need to), helped with lip-reading, support families with information and the next steps, and providing schools with the proper information in able to support a deaf student.

CRIDE Report 2022

The number of Teachers of the Deaf have fallen by nearly 20% since 2011, despite the number of reported deaf children has increased by 31%

I believe this is another reason for inputting more deaf awareness into schools. If more information is spread, more people could be inspired to find what they can do to help the deaf community.
