18 month update - Level 2 BSL

It has now been just about a year and a half of my EPQ and I have concluded my secondary research. I have covered everything I had planned to and as of recently including a wider range of resources - YouTube and a book. The topics I have found the most interesting are: mental health and safeguarding in the deaf community, career paths and the deaf community representation in the media. With this secondary research information I plan to create a short essay on the challenges of the deaf community and my journey with completing this research.

My next steps now are to plan out my presentation and artefact. I plan to do this by keeping a log of both and uploading these onto my blog. The presentations will take place in March and by this time I should have already began my final project. I have already chosen out the programmes I will be doing for my artefact and I plan to include a short clip if my signing one of them in my presentation. Along with my artefact I must also produce a 1000 word commentary about the processes of my artefact and the background of my project.

As of my signing I recently completed the Level 2 course in BSL which not means I have exceeded my original aim of reaching Level 1. I do not rate the course I used for my Level 2 as good as the level 1 as it did not include many videos, however it did include more of the grammar and precision of hand shapes which was very useful for real-life use of signing. I also plan to create a short piece of writing on the timeline of my sign language journey.
